1. What Stavo does
Stavo helps you view status media in folders you choose, save permitted copies to your device, split videos into shorter parts, share selected files through other apps and compose a WhatsApp chat link without saving a contact. Stavo is not affiliated with WhatsApp or Meta Platforms, Inc. See our independence and intellectual property notice.
2. Information and access
Files and media you select
When you grant access through Android's folder picker, Stavo reads media and file details in the selected status folder, including filenames, sizes, timestamps and video duration. For the video splitter, Android's document picker lets you choose a video and may grant Stavo continued access to that file so background splitting can finish. Stavo can create local temporary copies for preview, splitting or sharing, and writes files you save into device media storage. Your media is not sent to a Stavo-operated cloud service.
A folder grant can include status media from multiple accounts under a selected app folder. Only grant folders you are comfortable letting Stavo read. You may remove a grant through Android settings or the system's document-access controls.
App preferences and usage
Stavo stores settings such as theme, chosen status source, granted folder references, split preferences, recent split sessions and recent chat numbers locally on your device. A number or optional message you type for direct chat is used to construct a wa.me link and is sent to the selected external app only when you open that link; Stavo may retain recent chat numbers locally so you can reuse them. Stavo does not create an account or operate a chat service.
Support messages
If you email us, we receive the email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. Please do not include private media or sensitive information unless necessary to investigate your request.
3. Advertising, analytics, notifications and remote configuration
Stavo currently integrates Google Mobile Ads. If advertising is enabled, Google and its partners may process device identifiers, IP address, approximate location inferred from IP, ad interactions and diagnostic information to serve, measure and protect ads, subject to their own policies and applicable consent requirements. Some placements may show banner, interstitial or app-open ads. The app can remotely enable or disable ad placements and change ad unit IDs; a disabled placement will not request ads. Review Google's privacy policy for Google's practices.
On launch, Stavo may download a small configuration file from our server to get app-version and advertising settings. We do not send your media, chat messages or contact lists in that request. If the configuration is unavailable, the app uses locally cached or bundled settings.
Usage analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
Stavo uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used so we can improve it. It collects app-usage information such as which screens are opened, session and engagement data, app version, device model, operating-system version, language, approximate location derived from IP address, and an app-instance identifier; where Android allows it, it may also use the device's advertising ID. Stavo does not send your status media, saved files, chat numbers or message text to analytics. This data is processed by Google under Google's privacy policy and retained for a limited period configured in our Firebase project. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings.
Push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
Stavo uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to send occasional notifications, such as app updates or news about Stavo. To deliver them, Firebase creates a registration token for your installation. We use it only to send notifications and do not link it to your identity or media. A notification may contain a link; tapping it opens that web page in your browser. On Android 13 and later Stavo asks for notification permission when the app starts; you can decline or turn notifications off at any time in Android settings.
On-device processing notifications
Stavo uses Android WorkManager for local background video processing and shows a foreground notification while a split runs. No crash-reporting SDK is integrated in the current app.
4. Permissions and sharing
- Selected folders and files: Android's system picker grants access only to folders or documents you choose; Stavo does not request broad photo/video library access.
- Legacy storage write: on Android 9 and earlier, Stavo may ask to write files to public device storage only when you save content.
- Notifications: on Android 13 and later Stavo asks permission to show notifications: split progress and occasional app updates or news. Declining does not stop the app from working.
- Network: used for remote configuration, advertising, usage analytics, push notifications and opening external links. Video splitting itself is performed on-device.
- Sharing: when you tap Share or Repost, Android grants the chosen destination app temporary access to the selected content. The destination's policies then apply.
5. Retention and your choices
Settings, recents and split-session information remain on your device until removed by app actions, clearing Stavo's app data or uninstalling the app. Saved photos and videos may remain in your gallery after uninstalling; delete those files in Stavo or your device's gallery/file manager. Temporary cache files may be removed by Android or the app. To remove access, revoke Stavo's folder/document grants through Android settings. Turn notifications off in Android settings → Apps → Stavo → Notifications. Clearing Stavo's app data or uninstalling it removes the local analytics app-instance identifier and the notification registration token from your device. For detailed steps, see data deletion.
If you contact support, request deletion of your support correspondence at [email protected]. We may retain limited correspondence when required for security, legal obligations or dispute handling.
6. Children, security and changes
Stavo is not designed for children to use without appropriate supervision. Do not use it to collect or share someone else's media without permission. We use Android's scoped access mechanisms, but no storage or network service can be guaranteed perfectly secure. We may update this policy as app features or providers change; the effective date above will be updated. Material changes will be reflected here before or when they take effect.
